Quickstart with Lia
Configure Lia and project context from the Fractal source of truth.
Lia is the SaaS Boilerplate specialist. The repository keeps her canonical
agent prompt, skills, instructions, memories, and work records in .fractal/.
Provider-specific files are adapters derived from that directory.
Choose an operating mode
- File-based Fractal (first-class): use the
.fractal/files and schemas without installing the CLI, running a gateway, or creating an account. - Fractal runtime (optional): add authenticated workspaces, agent teams, memories, tasks, and gateway-backed tools when runtime compatibility is confirmed.
- Another Code Agent: load
AGENTS.md, then convert only the required.fractal/records to that provider's native format.
Subscribers, founders, operators, and agencies can author or edit the
canonical .fractal/ records directly and convert them to Claude, Cursor,
Copilot/VS Code, or another provider. Do not create a second rules source. Read
.fractal/skills/saas-boilerplate/references/code-agents.md before converting
or checking synchronization.
Technical documentation stays in English. Conversation and customer-facing copy should adapt to the user's requested language.
The current Fractal CLI recognizes the retired configuration surface and is not a reliable authoring or synchronization path for this current
.fractal/contract. Use file-based mode and documented provider conversion until CLI compatibility is explicitly confirmed.
Configure a provider
Open the repository
Open the project root in your Code Agent and ensure it can read AGENTS.md
and the .fractal/ directory.
Expose the canonical skills
When the provider supports Agent Skills, prefer a symlink instead of a copy:

appropriate. If symlinks are unavailable, create a derived copy and refresh it
from .fractal/ after every source change.
Convert only what the provider needs
For Claude Code, convert agents to .claude/agents/ and instructions to
.claude/rules/. For Cursor, convert instructions to .cursor/rules/*.mdc.
For Copilot/VS Code, use AGENTS.md, .github/instructions/, .github/skills/,
or .github/agents/ when supported. The complete mapping is in the
repository's references/code-agents.md.
Verify and reload
Check that the adapter is discoverable, scoped to the intended files, and that all skill symlinks resolve. Reload the Code Agent if it caches project context.
Using the Fractal runtime
Fractal was created by Felipe Barcelos. Access is currently distributed
through the waitlist. After approval, use the download page
and the runtime's current onboarding documentation. Confirm that the installed
runtime understands the current .fractal/ schemas before relying on runtime
records; it must not replace the source files.
Continuity and activation
During onboarding, ask whether the user wants continuity tracking in the
file-backed records, in the optional runtime, or not at all. Do not silently
change .gitignore, delete local history, or migrate private records. Starter
goals and routines are disabled until the user explicitly reviews their owner,
scope, permissions, and triggers and activates them.
